Deputies arrived at the scene around 11 p.m. to find people screaming and gunfire ringing from multiple directions. Amidst the pandemonium, a young man, identified only as 18 years of age, was holding a gun when he was shot by one of the responding deputies, according to Houston Chronicle. Major J. Nanny of the Harris County Sheriff's Office explained the situation as "very volatile," suggesting that the deputies had to react swiftly upon encountering the armed individual.
The shooting continued in the area even as deputies provided first aid to the wounded teenager, who was later transported to the hospital in stable condition.
