Alert citizens and a quick response from the Cotati Police Department led to the arrest of an allegedly intoxicated driver yesterday. According to a Facebook post by the Cotati Police Department, their dispatch center received a call about a subject showing clear signs of intoxication while inside a local business.
When officers arrived at the scene, the individual in question had begun to drive away quickly. Law enforcement promptly conducted a traffic stop, during which they determined the driver was under the influence of an illegal substance believed to be Ketamine. It is the kind of vigilance by citizens that allows potential accidents to be swiftly averted.
The suspect was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of a controlled substance. The quick thinking of the caller who reported the incident and the timely response of the local police likely prevented a more serious incident from unfolding on Cotati’s streets.
