A tragic turn of events was reported by the Wright County Sheriff's Office, involving a fatal car crash in Southside Township. At 2:46 a.m. on Thursday, deputies responded to a call about a vehicle that had crashed into a cornfield, situated approximately 20 yards off of 90th Street NW, just east of Nevens Avenue NW. The vehicle, identified as a 2023 Kia Seltos, was discovered with significant damage attributed to the crash.
The preliminary report by the Sheriff's Office made available through a public statement, revealed an unsettling scene. There was one adult female in the vehicle, who was found deceased at the scene. She was later recognized as Julie Hahn, a 59-year-old resident from Annandale. It was noted in the statement that Hahn did not appear to have been wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
According to the initial investigations, the eastbound vehicle might have lost control while on 90th Street NW. The trajectory of the mishap suggested it veered off the roadway, struck a road sign and a road approach, and potentially rolled over before coming to a halt amidst the towering stalks of corn.
While the crash remains under further scrutiny by the Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the cause of this accident is still an unfolding mystery. No other vehicles were reportedly involved, and investigators are likely to probe various factors, including road conditions, vehicle performance, and Hahn's actions leading up to the crash.
