Two convicted felons, Jessie Wooten Jr., 38, and his accomplice Tracy Wooten, 55, were apprehended following a robbery and shooting incident on Elm Hill Pike this past Saturday. The Nashville Police Department, through thorough investigative effort, linked the pair to the crime that took place in the early hours of the morning.

According to a report provided by the Nashville government, a male victim, who is said to be an acquaintance to Jessie Wooten, was shot in the arm after a struggle ensued when Wooten reportedly brandished a firearm and demanded personal belongings. During the altercation, the victim's girlfriend tried to intervene but was allegedly held back, by Tracy Wooten, who also carried a weapon – in this case, a knife – and she was physically and sexually assaulted.

Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division zeroed in on the suspects and arrested them early Sunday morning at a convenience store on the 2800 block of Lebanon Pike. Upon their detention, Jessie was found with a firearm and Tracy with a large hunting knife. During subsequent interviews, the Wootens confessed to their participation in the robbery.

Jessie Wooten now faces multiple charges, including attempted criminal homicide, aggravated robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and additional gun-related offenses. His bond is set at $126,000. Tracy Wooten has been charged with attempted criminal homicide, aggravated robbery and, aggravated sexual battery with his bond set at $100,000. Both suspects sustained non-life threatening injuries during their capture.

The police are urging anyone with further information related to this case to come forward. Details about the suspects' past criminal records were not disclosed, but their recent admittance adds a critical piece to the police's efforts in adjudicating the crime.
