The Eagan Community Center (ECC), recognized for over two decades as a communal cornerstone for recreation and social congregation, is embarking on a transformation. "The facility serves the community in a variety of recreational areas and supports our community's health, both physically and mentally," detailed Andrew Pimental, Eagan’s director of Parks and Recreation, according to a statement obtained by the City of Eagan's official website.

Despite its vital role, the center has not seen major updates or expansions since its inauguration. Preserved through diligent maintenance, the time has come for reinvestment, as Jared Flewellen, assistant director of Parks and Recreation, communicated. "Our building maintenance team has done a great job of keeping our facility from looking its age. It’s time to reinvest in the facility to ensure that for the next two decades, it remains a safe, accessible, and enjoyable place for our community members," Flewellen told the City of Eagan website. The upcoming project aims to enhance navigability, and versatility of space while maintaining the center's classic appeal.

TKDA and Moody Nolan, firms steeped in familiarity with the ECC due to their contributions to the original structure, have been selected to guide the architect and engineering aspects of the project. The major change involves moving the fitness center from the lower to the upper level, creating a harmonious link between the track, group fitness studio, and the new fitness area. This relocation is emblemized as the big move during community discourse, set to convert the old fitness hub into additional multipurpose space.

Set to kickoff this fall, the construction endeavors are slated for completion in 2026. Every segment of the ECC will continue to welcome patrons as the space morphs around them. "We may see some minor detours inside the facility, but we look forward to seeing our renters, fitness center members, gymnasium users, and children in the playground during this process," Pimental reassured in a statement reported by the City's website. Updates and insights regarding the ECC's evolution can be monitored through Eagan’s Park and Recreation project updates.
