The flow of traffic along Minnetonka Boulevard is set for a squeeze as CenterPoint Energy's construction crews, manned by Michels Corporation, dive into June with a roster of lane and road closures aimed at inserting a new large-diameter natural gas steel main beneath the bustling streetscape. According to a CenterPoint Energy update, the anticipated disruptions will kick off with lane reductions on County Road 25 between France Avenue and Minnetonka Boulevard starting in the weeks of June 3 and June 10, during which Glenhurst Avenue will wave goodbye to through traffic from County Road 25 up to Minnetonka Boulevard, where a single lane will wink out of service.
Those who roam the paths of Minnetonka Boulevard will find their travels further encumbered in the week of June 17 as the artery shrinks to a lone lane stretching each way from Inglewood Avenue to Lynn Avenue, although the doors to local businesses like All Care Dentistry and Starbucks are promised to keep their connections with the roadway intact. Traffic will be navigating these changes while the heart of the intersection at Inglewood Avenue and Minnetonka Boulevard remains stitched closed.
As June rolls into its final frame, drivers will be tossed yet another detour when the northwestern segment of France Avenue's union with Minnetonka Boulevard cinches shut. The prescribed alternative paths sling vehicles onto Sunset Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue to loop back to Minnetonka Boulevard, the silver lining being that access to the likes of Mulberry’s Dry Cleaners and Laundry holds steady, with sidewalks staying the course as open passages.
