A routine traffic enforcement stop in Fairfield turned multi-layered after several disruptions involved four individuals on Sunday afternoon. At approximately 12:05 pm, Officer Turner from the Fairfield, CA, Police Department was engaged in a traffic stop with a vehicle carrying two men when he reported a strong odor of marijuana emanating from within the car. Soon after, the situation escalated with the arrival of two additional men known to the vehicle's occupants.
The first to arrive was reportedly screaming at officers and was quickly detained alongside the vehicle's occupants. In an unexpected turn, the fourth man to appear on the scene attempted to berate and physically engage with the third man, who was in the process of being detained. According to a Facebook post by the Fairfield Police Department, all four men were eventually detained.
A subsequent search of the stopped vehicle revealed the presence of an unregistered handgun and items indicative of narcotics distribution. The incident led to the arrest of an 18-year-old driver and his 19-year-old brother, who was a passenger, both facing firearm and narcotics-related charges. The nature of the evidence recovered was detailed further in the police department's social media update.
Meanwhile, the fourth individual encountered at the scene was taken into custody for public intoxication and for violating the terms of his probation.
