A North County man, previously convicted of a felony, is back in custody facing a new set of weapons charges after a domestic violence investigation led to the discovery of multiple guns, including untraceable ghost guns, in his Fallbrook residence.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, deputies executed a follow-up visit to the home of William James Wallace, 45, on the 700 block of Steward Canyon Road. This visit was connected to an alleged domestic incident. Wallace was taken into custody yesterday morning, just after 8:00 a.m., without any trouble.
The search of Wallace's domicile resulted in the seizure of two handguns, an assault rifle, and two privately manufactured firearms—ghost guns. These guns are problematic for law enforcement, as they lack serial numbers or markings, making it nearly impossible to trace them back to owners or constructors.
Following the seizure, Wallace was booked into the Vista Detention Facility on several charges, including domestic violence, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and possession of an undetectable firearm. The lack of traceability of ghost guns poses a significant hurdle for law enforcement agencies as they endeavor to solve crimes and bring perpetrators to justice, highlighting an ongoing concern within the national debate over gun control and firearm regulation.
