Two former students have been charged after a series of break-ins at Piedmont High School and Piedmont Middle School in Union County. The suspects, identified as 18-year-old Brendan Cranor and another 17-year-old boy, were former students at Piedmont High, as reported by the Union County Sheriff’s Office.

According to WCNC, the break-ins occurred earlier this week. Cranor is currently being held in jail, facing charges including felony breaking and entering, larceny, first-degree trespassing, and injury to personal property. Meanwhile, the situation involving the 17-year-old is more complex, as a juvenile secured custody order was denied, leaving him not currently in custody.

School resource officers conducted the investigation that led to the identification of the suspects. It was determined they forced their way into the buildings and made off with "various" items. Details of what was stolen have not been disclosed. WBTV reported that the sheriff’s office has taken the recent events as a cue to remind local parents to monitor their children's activities, especially with the onset of summer break.

In addition to the aforementioned charges, the suspects are also being accused of first-degree trespass and injury to personal property, as highlighted by QC News. Authorities have appealed to anyone with information about these incidents, or any other crime to contact the Union County Sheriff’s Office at 704-283-3789.
