Fort Worth Municipal Court Offers Warrant Forgiveness at 'Court in the Community' Event in South Fort WorthSource: City of Fort Worth, Texas

In a bid to bring justice to the community’s doorstep, the Fort Worth Municipal Court is setting up shop in South Fort Worth on June 29th for a Court in the Community/Warrant Forgiveness Day.

From 9 a.m. to noon at the Vivian J. Lincoln Library, located at 8829 McCart Ave., Fort Worth residents with pending citations are invited to clear their legal records without the threat of arrest, and in this move, the court aims to embolden individuals to step forward, the Court Director William Rumuly emphasized the opportunities for resolution, "I encourage anyone who has an outstanding citation with the Fort Worth Municipal Court to contact us immediately so we can provide options to move those cases to a final resolution," as stated by the City of Fort Worth.

A maximum of 120 people will be welcomed on a first-come, first-served basis to deal with Class C criminal cases, including traffic violations, ordinance, and penal code offenses, those seeking help are advised to call ahead at 817-392-6700 and register for the event.

Alongside the court's services, the initiative is partnered with Goodwill North Central Texas which will bring along career-building assistance like job readiness training, interview skills, job search techniques, past-due rent, and utility assistance will also be offered by the City of Fort Worth EnVision Center and Community Action Partners for those in need, anyone interested in these services should reach out to Suzanne Richards at 817-393-2591, or simply walk in on the day of the event.

Confirming the scope of the event, it is noted that assistance granted will be specifically for citations under the jurisdiction of the Fort Worth Municipal Court. Residents have been given the reassurance that as long as they voluntarily approach the Municipal Court, they will be under Safe Harbor—that is, they will not be arrested for their outstanding warrants—and this can be at any Municipal Court location.
