A tragic vehicle accident has claimed the life of a 35-year-old Hilltown man, according to local authorities. The Bucks County reported that Joseph Kay was pronounced dead at the scene after a Polaris side-by-side vehicle he was a passenger in was involved in a crash on June 2 at the intersection of Green Street and Rickert Road in Hilltown Township.
The ill-fated incident ensued after a Hilltown Township police officer noticed the Polaris, with Kay as a passenger, veering off the road around 1 a.m. on a Sunday which raised suspicions of driver impairment. Initiating a traffic stop at Mill Road, the driver, whose attempt to flee led approximately half a mile away on Green and at the attempt to navigate a right turn onto Rickert Road, lost control and flipped the vehicle, resulting in both occupants being partially ejected during the rollover.
Current reports indicate that at the time of the crash, the vehicle was not registered and therefore was not authorized for road use. The Bucks County states the ongoing investigation is being conducted by the Hilltown Township Police Department along with the Bucks County District Attorney's Office. Details regarding potential charges and their timing will be disclosed when deemed appropriate.
The community has been left in mourning after the loss of Kay, and questions linger over the driver's actions leading to the fatal conclusion of the chase. As per local authorities, the investigation remains active, while the police continue piecing together the events leading up to the tragic crash that prematurely ended the journey of Joseph Kay. Any further updates about the incident or resulting legal actions will be made available to the public in due course.
