A late-night collision in Mesa has triggered a DUI investigation after a Chevrolet reportedly ran a red light leading to a crash with potentially serious consequences, sources say. According to information from FOX 10 Phoenix, the accident, which occurred near the intersection of Dobson Road and Broadway, resulted in several individuals being hospitalised and now, investigators are looking into the possibility of impairment behind the wheel of the Chevrolet.
Not only did the crash lead to injuries, but it also had significant collateral damage, causing a disruption in water supply for nearby establishments; the force of the collision was hefty enough to rupture a water main, local businesses in the vicinity found themselves waterless at an hour where the only thirst meant to be quenched was that of the serene desert night, in a statement acquired by AZ Family, at least two individuals were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries post the mishap that unfolded around 1 am. The intersection of Dobson and Broadway roads became the nexus of this nocturnal disruption, and it remained closed for hours as crews endeavoured meticulously to manage the wreckage and the unexpected water crisis.
Further complicating the matter was the footage captured by Nova Dispensary, showing the moment the suspected impaired driver crashed, adding a visual dimension to the investigation currently underway. Mesa police efforts are focused on piecing together the events that led to both the Chevrolet spinning out of control and the subsequent collision that sent a vehicle crashing into a water main.
Mesa Police did report minor facial injuries for the Chevrolet driver who also had three passengers at the time of the crash one being transported to the hospital with potentially serious injuries, while the other two alongside the Toyota driver only sustained minor injuries.
