An incident in Lee Township has left a pregnant woman and her unborn child injured after an altercation escalated into gunfire, with the boyfriend now in custody for the shooting. According to WZZM 13, the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office reported that they responded to a call from a residence on 105th Avenue on Saturday, where a 31-year-old woman from Pullman, who was pregnant, sustained gunshot wounds to her abdomen and leg during an argument with her 23-year-old boyfriend.
The situation intensified when the boyfriend, whose pistol discharged during the dispute, fled the scene on a motorcycle that was later identified as stolen, the altercation, which occurred on June 15th, set off a search for the boyfriend who was not at the residence when authorities arrived, however, deputies quickly recovered the firearm and were able to establish communication with the suspect by phone. This woman was transported to a nearby hospital where, as FOX 17 confirms, she and the baby were both expected to make a full recovery.
The prolonged search ended two days later when the community contributed multiple tips leading to the apprehension of the suspect—a reveal shared by both news sources. Details surrounding the potential charges were not immediately disclosed, though News Channel 3 has requested information from the Allegan County Sheriff's Office regarding the charges the 23-year-old could face.
