An unusual accident at Belle Prairie Park has led to injuries for a Little Falls resident. This past Saturday, at around 8:08 pm, the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to an incident involving a person who fell from a moving vehicle in the park.
As per the Morrison County Sheriff's Office's report, 37-year-old Jessica Muller was sitting on the truck's tailgate, with a dog leash in hand as the vehicle drove down the park's paved trail. In a moment of unforeseen mishap, the dog's leash tangled with a tree, pulling Muller off the tailgate and causing her to tumble onto the pavement.
Kirsten Lee Vander Martin, 34, also from Little Falls, was identified as the driver of the truck. Following the accident, Muller was promptly transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital by Mayo Clinic Ambulance. Details on the extent of her injuries have not been released.
The Sheriff's Office stated that they received assistance with the incident from both the Little Falls Police Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance. The circumstances surrounding why the truck was on the pedestrian trail, and why Muller opted for such a precarious seat, remain under review. The authorities have not yet provided further information on whether any citations or charges are in consideration.
