A 40-year sentence was issued to Garrett Andrew Bailey, a Live Oak man, after he pled guilty to a charge of human trafficking and seven counts of possession of child pornography. Bailey, 36, decided not to face trial and accepted the charges against him. The 437th District Court Judge Joel Perez sentenced Bailey, as reported by the KSAT. He will be eligible for parole after serving at least half of his sentence.

In the course of an extensive investigation, it was revealed that Bailey was arrested by the Live Oak Police Department in October 2023 along with two other individuals for associated crimes. Post arrest, he fled from Texas to Oregon, prompting an arrest warrant for his extradition back to Bexar County. The Bexar County District Attorney's Office described the case as involving Bailey and a 38-year-old woman, who was indicted on similar human trafficking and child pornography charges, accused of sending explicit images of her child to Bailey and others. Her charges are still pending.

The KSAT report also cited that the police have found more victims beyond Bexar County, which suggests a wide-reaching network of abuse. Live Oak police are urging potential assault victims to make contact and help further the investigation, indicating that there might still be unidentified individuals affected by the suspects' actions.

Among the accomplices, Jarrod Kirkus was previously charged in Comal County with aggravated sexual assault of a child and child trafficking to engage in sexual conduct, and Matthew Miller faced charges of possession of child pornography. KSAT revealed that Kirkus is a known sex offender with a history of similar crimes dating back to 2003. Miller's arrest occurred in Travis County, while Bailey's case expanded as investigators uncovered evidence suggesting his involvement in crimes across multiple jurisdictions.

The Live Oak Police Department and other investigating bodies are actively seeking additional information and encourage anyone with insights into the suspects, possible further victims, or related cases to contact them at 210-945-1734. As the cases against Bailey and his indicted female accomplice proceed, the authorities are determined to uncover the full extent of the criminal network and seek justices for the victims.
