A Minnesota community is reeling from a violent act against a family's pet, leading to an arrest that has charged a resident with animal cruelty. On June 15, a dog suffered fatal injuries from a gunshot wound in Young America Township, an incident that prompted an immediate investigation by Carver County authorities, as reported by the Carver County Sheriff's Office.
The distressing event began when the dog's family lost sight of their pet near their driveway, only to discover the animal wounded upon its return, according to a statement from the Carver County Sheriff's Office. Despite rushed efforts to save the dog's life, veterinarians at a Golden Valley hospital had to euthanize the pet due to the "too severe" gunshot wounds.
The Carver County Sheriff's Office, led by Sheriff Jason Kamerud, took diligent steps in their investigation, which culminated in an arrest on June 20. Patrick Darryl Will, a 55-year-old resident of Norwood Young America, faces felony charges for animal torture, and was held at the Carver County Jail pending a court hearing, as detailed by the Carver County Sheriff's Office.
