Lytle, Texas has been hit by a string of brazen thefts, with police on the lookout for two suspects who turned a night of bicycling into a crime spree. These 'bicycle bandits', as they've come to be known, are believed to have burglarized at least six vehicles early Thursday morning and subsequently stolen two vehicles from one of the residences targeted, as KENS5 reported.

According to law enforcement, following the burglaries, these culprits engaged in a high-speed chase exceeding 100 mph, one in a Dodge truck the other in a Chevy Suburban, neither suspect stopped for the Lytle Police officer who quickly caught up with them off I-35 around 3:45 a.m., they took frantic turns down highways and frontage roads in a desperate escape bid dash cam footage obtained by the police showcase the intense moments before the truck spun out of control collided with a parked vehicle and a power pole then an officer approaching the aftermath watched the suspect bail out, breach a fence, and disappear into the night.

The suspects started their night on bicycles, hitting at least two subdivisions a few miles apart, with police suggesting they ditched their bikes in the Granberg Subdivision before their motorized getaway commenced. Lytle Police have shared surveillance videos showing one of the suspects inside a garage, "with a flashlight and gun...rifling through vehicles," a grim prelude to the vehicle heists.

"The brazen suspect was wearing what they believe to be wearing gray sweatpants, a black satchel over his shoulder, and wearing sports gloves with a Nike symbol," the Lytle Police described, noting the firearm spotted in the video was lifted from one of the previously burglarized vehicles and the stolen truck has been declared a write-off the Chevy Suburban was found abandoned near downtown San Antonio, which indicates a hitch in the suspects' purported escape plan.
