A 27-year-old man has been charged with capital murder following a fatal shooting in Houston, which resulted in the deaths of two women and a man. The suspect, identified as Bryan J. Fernandez Hernandez, was arrested after the incident, which took place at 10580 Hammerly Boulevard around 3:10 p.m. last Saturday.
According to the City of Houston's official news site, charges were filed in the 183rd State District Court., and Hernandez is currently being held in connection to the crime. The victims, whose names have not been released pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, were aged 65, 43, and 38 at the time of their deaths.
Detectives from HPD's Homicide Division, M. Barton and K. Amri, stated that officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a supposed home invasion. Hernandez had initially claimed to have shot three intruders in self-defense, which prompted the police response.
However, the ongoing investigation revealed no evidence of a home invasion, leading to Hernandez's detention and subsequent arrest. "HPD patrol officers responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a home invasion in-progress call at an apartment complex at the above address, resulting in the alleged burglars being shot by the tenant. Officers arrived on scene and spoke with the tenant, later identified as Fernandez Hernandez, who stated he called 9-1-1 after shooting three home invaders in the apartment," the detectives reported.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office, after being alerted to the situation, proceeded to charge Fernandez Hernandez for his role in the shooting. The motives behind this violent act remain under investigation, and further details are expected to be disclosed following ongoing inquiries and legal proceedings.
