Gunfire erupted on a Kalamazoo street Thursday afternoon, injuring a local man in an apparent shooting incident that has authorities seeking the assailant. As per Kalamazoo's Department of Public Safety, the shot rang out approximately at 3:15 p.m., sending officers rushing to the 300 and 800 blocks of Palmer Avenue, close to Portage Street, where they found a 25-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to the leg.
First responders from Life Ambulance were at the scene, attending to the man who, despite his injury, remained conscious and alert. He was promptly taken to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for what was assessed to be non-life-threatening injuries, according to FOX 17.
The pursuit for the suspect, however, has been futile so far. Kalamazoo Public Safety officials are asking for the community's cooperation in tracking down the individual responsible for the shooting, as reported by News Channel 3. Efforts by the KDPS officers to identify and locate the suspect have not yielded any positive results.
