Seattle Police are currently piecing together the chain of events that led to a man being wounded by gunfire amidst a chaotic shootout in downtown Seattle early Monday morning. According to the Seattle Police Department's Blotter, around 2:00 a.m. on June 10th, patrolling officers rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting and people quickly fleeing from a parking lot near the intersection of 2nd Avenue South and South Main Street.
Preliminary investigations found a damaged sports car and a collection of shell casings, indicative of multiple shots that were fired. It was determined that the shootout had begun in the parking lot, only to intensify as vehicles scrambled to escape eastward. A handgun left behind was quickly seized by the officers and held as key evidence in their ongoing investigation.
Later developments emerged when Harborview Medical Center reported the arrival of a 22-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the leg, who was urgently dropped off at their emergency room. The patient, whose wound was described as non-life-threatening, was stabilized and remains in the hospital in a stable condition.
The Seattle Police's Gun Violence Reduction Unit has taken the helm to thoroughly process the crime scene. While the shooters have not yet been brought into custody, the detectives are actively to unravel the full circumstances that led to this violent episode downtown.
