The incident in question occurred on the evening of Tuesday, May 28, 2024, and is currently under investigation. According to the MPD's official report, the assault happened around 9:00 p.m. on the 2200 block of 18th Street, Northwest.
During the incident, the suspects confronted the victim and demanded their property before assaulting them. The situation escalated as the suspects continued to follow the victim to the 2300 block of 18th Street, Northwest before eventually fleeing from the scene. Details about the attack or the suspects have been minimal, but the police urge anyone with information to come forward. The attack seems to be an isolated event however, residents are advised to stay alert and report any suspicious activities.
The MPD has released a statement in an effort to gather more details that could lead to the apprehension of the individuals responsible for this crime. "We are asking anyone who has information regarding this case to call the police at 202-727-9099." Additionally, anonymous tipsters can text their information to 50411. The MPD offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for each robbery committed in the District of Columbia.
