Miami-Dade County gears up for the fourth year to acknowledge Juneteenth, a pivotal moment in American history earmarking the end of slavery, as per a recent announcement by the Miami-Dade Black Affairs Advisory Board. Juneteenth, taking place on June 19, invites Miami's community to a series of local events that pay homage to this momentous day back in 1865 when General Gordon Granger delivered the news of the emancipation in Texas.

The Black Affairs Advisory Board, an entity committed to fostering dialogue and betterment strategies for the Black constituents of Miami-Dade County, acknowledges the historic and contemporary significance of Juneteenth, which echoes deeply through a county where nearly 20% of its vibrant population is Black, conversing in English, Kreyol, Spanish and more the county offers equal opportunity in its programs and services with an unwavering stance against discrimination.
