In a move to manage its real estate assets, the Milton City Council has greenlit the divestiture of a slender 0.04-acre parcel near the New Providence Road/372 roundabout. This land is described as excess to the city's needs, as informed by the City's official news on Monday.

The plot, albeit modest, connects to the Providence Pointe subdivision, and according to Public Works Director Sara Leaders, it serves no purpose for the city and fosters only a private drainage system; therefore, it can't support any development. The city stands to gain $11,336 from the sale, which will slightly expand the new owner’s lot; this was pointed out during Monday’s council meeting.

During the same session, the Council proceeded with unanimous approvals on various items, notably the installation of a pedestrian hybrid beacon along with landscaped median islands and a crosswalk on Crabapple Road by Dunbrody Avenue, while emergency repairs for the New Bullpen Road bridge and the integration of upgraded software and technology for both Milton Police and Milton Fire-Rescue were also given the go-ahead.

The Council then sought to bring a controlled pause, extending a moratorium for an additional six months on new activity within the Deerfield Form-Based Code jurisdiction, preventing possible congestion of zoning applications while a new Deerfield Implementation Plan is in the works. This preventative step acts as a shield against potential saturation of zoning applications during the drafting of new land regulations for the area, which City Attorney Ken Jarrard deemed paramount according to the City's news update.

In matters of broader scope and regional impact, the Council also nodded to an expansion of the North Fulton Community Improvement District, an initiative aimed at pushing infrastructure projects to enrich North Fulton's key facets of livability, walkability, and drivability. Though the expansion territory lies outside of Milton, the City's approval is nonetheless statutory as per legal requirements similar to those of fellow cities Alpharetta and Roswell.
