A Minneapolis fast-food manager has admitted to an extensive embezzlement scheme worth over $140,000, as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Timothy Michael Hill, Jr., entrusted with the daily financial responsibilities at a fast-food outlet at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, chose to systematically divert the restaurant's earnings for his own personal use.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, from September 2022 to October 2023, Hill was supposed to securely deposit the cash but instead chose to brazenly pocket it, in efforts to cover his traces using future receipts. This deceptive method allowed him to continually rotate funds to appear as though past cash deposits were only delayed, when, in actuality, he was perpetrating ongoing theft.
Hill's illicit activities were put to use for various personal indulgences including jewelry purchases, online sports betting, and transactions on the adult content platform Only Fans. Moreover, he engaged in CashApp transfers to acquaintances in exchange for personal media. Eventually, the scheme amounted to an embezzlement totaling approximately $144,000.
Hill, aged 36, has subsequently pled guilty to one count of wire fraud before U.S. District Judge Paul A. Magnuson. An official sentencing will be scheduled to determine the repercussions of his fraudulent actions. The FBI and Minneapolis Airport Police Department's joint investigation has brought the case to the current juncture, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew C. Murphy leading the prosecution.
