The Minnetonka Police Department recently honored one of its own with a prestigious accolade. Officer Ryan Hodge has been designated as the 2024 Glen Lake Optimist Officer of the Year, following more than a decade of service since joining the department in 2007. Recognized for his extensive expertise and consistent embodiment of dedication and professionalism, Hodge's selection underscores his numerous contributions to his colleagues and the community he patrols. His recognition is not just another laurel but an indicator of a service-minded approach that permeates his career.
Joining the department as a magnetic force of mentorship, Hodge has generously dispersed his knowledge as a use-of-force instructor and field training officer. With his fellow officer, he established an innovative two-week recruitment academy, sharpening new recruits on firearms, defensive tactics, and reality-focused training scenarios. His video work and pivotal role in launching a drone initiative have also marked notable advancements for the department. According to the Minnetonka Police statement, his mentorship spirit was a key factor in his nomination.
Deputy Chief Jason Tait lauded Officer Hodge, saying, "Officer Hodge embodies the true essence of what this award represents." Affirmations of Hodge's exemplary work are mirrored by Sgt. Jerame Kuyper, emphasized Hodge's ability to bridge gaps between law enforcement and the public. "Beyond his exemplary performance and mentorship, Officer Hodge is a true ambassador for our department," Sgt. Kuyper said. "His interactions with the community are characterized by professionalism and empathy, fostering positive relationships and trust between law enforcement and the public we serve."
Well-rounded in his approach, Hodge's recognition extends beyond the badge and into the tapestry of local engagement. Paralleling his duties, the seasoned officer remains a stalwart figure in the community, greeting residents with professionalism and empathy. Officer Hodge will be formally acknowledged by the Glen Lake Optimist Club on June 11, an accolade serving as a testament to the intrinsic value of his commitment to law enforcement and civic responsibility.
