The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the safe return of Kaitlyn Marie Villalva, a 16-year-old girl who had been missing for over a week; she was reunited with her family earlier today, according to an announcement captured by FOX San Antonio. Kaitlyn, whose disappearance sparked widespread concern, was last seen on June 17 around 9 p.m. and officially reported missing three days later, on June 20.
Before her return, the teen's absence was especially alarming because she requires medication for a diagnosed medical condition, details that were shared by the authorities; she was believed to have left her residence without her parent's consent and possibly in the company of an unidentified male, news red flagged by concern by News 4 San Antonio. Kaitlyn is described as having blue eyes, brown hair, a stature of 5'1", and weighing 130 lbs., her typical style represented that night by grey oversized sweatpants, a "CALVIN KLEIN" inscribed black zip-up hoodie, complemented with white Nike Air Force One shoes and a black and white backpack.
Efforts to locate Kaitlyn were extensive, involving both public appeals for assistance from the community and the distribution of her description and last known whereabouts. The sheriff's office underscored the gravity of the situation by reminding the public that harboring a runaway is considered a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000, thus impressing upon the community the legal and moral imperative of aiding in the safe return of missing youths.
