Tragedy struck the Napa community as James Millimaki, previously reported missing, was discovered deceased on Thursday – nearly a week after he was last seen. According to the Napa Police Department, his body was located in the 1400 block of Mount Veeder Road, which snakes through the Napa countryside, connecting the city to points southwest. Initial assessments indicate that Millimaki's demise was due to a single-vehicle accident, which at this time, does not seem to be suspicious.
The 46-year-old man was last observed about 3 p.m. Friday, riding a distinctive black and yellow Suzuki DRZ-400 motorcycle. The investigation before the discovery suggested that he might have been en route to Lake Berryessa. The scene of the accident, a curve-laden rural road known for its challenging twists, lies nestled between Napa and Oakville, winding northward from Highway 29. The California Highway Patrol is continuing investigations, the outcome of which, may shed light on the circumstances leading up to the accident.
The Press Democrat reports that Millimaki was found after an extensive search, with the community and authorities holding out hope for a positive resolution. Unfortunately, this incident culminates in a series of events that started with his disappearance on May 31 and ended with a somber discovery that underscores the unpredictable nature of life's journey.
Napa Police have extended their sincere condolences to Millimaki's family and loved ones, recognizing the collective efforts of those who assisted in the search and kept him in their thoughts throughout the ordeal. As the investigation by the California Highway Patrol unfolds, further details may become available, however, for now, the incident is being classified as a tragic accident.
