President Buu Nygren had an uplifting message for a group of young students visiting from Pine Hill Elementary School. According to an article published by the Navajo Nation Office of the President and Vice President, during their visit to the Navajo Nation Capital, President Nygren told the kids, "You are more than capable," and encouraged them to repeat the affirmation back to him. His faith in the next generation was evident as he said, "I believe in you. Your parents, family, teachers, they all believe you. You all will do amazing things."
The visit appeared to be a heartwarming encounter with the head of the Navajo Nation, who took the time to express his pride in the young students from the school that is trying to nurture the students and especially teaching them the Navajo language. Sharing his motto, “Yideeskaadi Nitshakes,” which means thinking for the future, President Nygren seemed to instill a sense of hope and responsibility in the students, clearly holding them up as the bearers of tomorrow's promise.
In a candid moment that could only be described as endearing, President Nygren engaged with the students, sharing personal anecdotes about his favourite elementary school books and explaining why he was proud of each student who made the trip to see him. Laughter and hugs punctuated the visit, which seemed to serve as more than just a ceremonial gesture, but rather a genuine interaction that left an indelible mark on not only the students but President Nygren himself.
"My motto is ‘Yideeskaadi Nitshakes,’ meaning thinking for the future," President Nygren told the students. "And that’s each of you. I know you will grow up and do great things, making it my day to sit here and talk with you all. Just know you made my day today, and I believe in you." The President's encouraging words, as seen in the students' attentiveness, may indeed inspire them to pursue greatness in whatever path they choose to follow.
