
A New Jersey mother has been charged with the murder of her two young children in a tragic incident in Lakewood. The mother, identified as 27-year-old Naomi Elkins, allegedly drowned her 1-year-old and 3-year-old children, with one also suffering from stab wounds. According to FOX29, medics were dispatched to a home on Shenandoah Drive just after 4 p.m., but both children were pronounced dead at the scene.
Ocean County prosecutors have accused Elkins of the heinous act, and she was arrested Tuesday. They have yet to divulge additional details surrounding the events leading up to the children's deaths. She has been taken to the Ocean County Jail to quickly await a detention hearing. As reported by CBS News, Elkins has been charged with two counts of murder in addition to unlawful possession of a weapon.
The small town of Lakewood, located about 35 miles east of Trenton in Ocean County, is now grappling with the horrors of this crime. "No further details have been released," as stated by CBS News.
