The incident took place in the city's Juniata Park neighborhood, causing injuries to the officer from the 22nd District. Assigned to the ATV crackdown detail, the officer was riding a police dirt bike, identified as 7M1, when the collision happened at approximately 4:37 p.m. near Bennington and East Cayuga Streets, as FOX 29 reported.
During the course of the Honda CRV making a U-turn, the driver, a woman, struck the police dirt bike. This led to the officer, whose name has not yet been disclosed, to slide into a parked vehicle, as reported by NBC Philadelphia. The officer was subsequently taken to the hospital where they were stated to be in stable condition.
