Philadelphia has seen a spike in vehicle break-ins, as the city's police department reports a string of thefts that occurred earlier this week. The Philadelphia Police Department's Northwest Detective Division is on the lookout for several individuals involved in numerous thefts from autos in the area.
According to a press release from the Philadelphia Police Department, the thefts took place on Monday, June 17, starting early at 4:45 AM and lasting until 5:15 AM. The suspects targeted the neighborhoods along 8200 Henry Ave, 700 Summit Ave, and 600 Autumn River Run. In total, over 40 different vehicles were reported to have been broken into. The suspects, described as four unknown black males, were recorded on video surveillance amidst their criminal acts. The Philadelphia Police Department has released this footage in hopes that the public can aid in their identification.
The suspects were seen operating a Black Mercedes crossover-type SUV with tinted windows that, were notably dark. This fact might be significant, as it could make identifying the vehicle easier for residents and law enforcement officers in the area. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
In the meantime, community members have expressed concern about the growing number of auto thefts in their neighborhoods.
