Michelle Lidster was apprehended by Surprise police following a search warrant carried out at a Wittmann residence, the Surprise Police Department had been tracking Lidster's fraudulent maneuvers since January when she reportedly utilized counterfeit checks at local businesses, and her actions soon escalated drawing the community's attention as she was spotted on surveillance footage in April lifting mail from a neighborhood in Surprise.

The investigation into Lidster's activities expanded after the disclosed video evidence assisted detectives in positively identifying her, and revealed her suspected involvement in additional fraudulent crimes across the Valley, "Using video provided by the community, detectives were able to positively identify the suspect and learned she may be committing similar LID crimes in other parts of the Valley," as per 12 News.
