Pinellas County authorities are actively seeking a suspect involved in a robbery that left a particularly vulnerable member of the community victimized. This incident, which took place on June 16, unfolded at the intersection near 44th Avenue North and 31st Street North in Lealman, as reported by WFLA. The victim, a man confined to a wheelchair due to his medical condition that also impairs his speech, was robbed of his cellphone. The device was stored in a case that was, in turn, secured to a lanyard the man was wearing.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office has gone on to describe the suspect as a 40-year-old white male, last seen riding a bike. He was also noted to have been wearing a black hat and was carrying a backpack at the time of the robbery. Furthermore, it appears that the suspect targeted the victim knowing well that he would not be able easily to call out for help or pursue him, due to his disability. These details have been made available by several local news outlets, including FOX13 News and WTSP.
