Get ready to hit the brakes, Plymouth residents. The Minnesota Department of Transportation is pulling the plug on the 36th Avenue bridge over Highway 169 starting Thursday, June 6. Drivers will need to scout out some new routes as the span and all entry and exit ramps will shut down tight until October.
The shutdown is part of a bridge replacement project that's got the weekend booked solid for demolition. According to MnDOT's update, Highway 169 is going to be off-limits in both directions from I-394 to I-94, starting 10 p.m. Friday, June 7, and won't open up again until the crack of dawn, at 5 a.m. Monday, June 10.
For those caught in the crossfire of construction, detours will be the name of the game. Northbound travelers can reroute via I-394 to I-494 and then catch I-94. Heading south, the dance steps are reversed: take I-94, shimmy along I-494, and swing onto I-394 to get where you're going.
If you're looking to stay in the loop, MnDOT doesn’t want you driving blind. They’ve set up a project web page where motorists can sign up for email updates faster than you can say "traffic jam." That way, you’ll have all the info you need to navigate this summer snarl-up.
