Putnam County Home Reduced to Rubble by Devastating Blaze, Family Receives Community SupportSource: GoFundMe

A family in Putnam County is grappling with the aftermath of a fire that engulfed their home on Wednesday morning, rendering it a "total loss." The Putnam County Fire Department told WKRN that the fire was reported after the homeowner discovered heavy flames at the back of their house around 10:30 a.m.

Upon arrival, fire crews encountered a two-story structure "with heavy fire involvement in the second division and flames coming through the roof," Herald-Citizen reported. An aggressive defensive attack was launched on the fire, which took approximately an hour and a half to get under control. No injuries were reported during the incident, despite the extensive damage to the house.

While the fire department was able to control the fire, the house on Heathwood West Drive was ultimately deemed a complete loss. Ongoing efforts to support the affected family have led to the creation of a GoFundMe page, as noted by WSMV. Neighbors expressed concerns about lingering smoke and flames, prompting the stationing of a fire watch crew overnight to monitor the situation.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Firefighters remained at the scene for several hours beyond gaining control of the blaze, ensuring that the remnants did not reignite. Putnam County EMS was on hand to provide rehabilitation for the firefighters, while the Sheriff's Office and Tennessee Highway Patrol managed the traffic around the scene. The investigation into the fire's origin is ongoing.
