According to an announcement on the county's official website, a series of events catered to people of all ages, ranging from picnics to parades, are set to color the calendar. Kicking off the celebration, Youth Pride hit the ground running on June 1, offering a platform for young people aged 13-22 to engage in park activities, munch on local grub, and soak up entertainment from LGBTQ+ DJs and performers.
In the same spirit of inclusivity, Roseville Library opened its doors for an all-age Pride celebration, featuring furry friends from the Bitty Kitty Brigade, tunes from the One Voice Mixed Chorus, and various other activities. Entertaining as they were, one must note, these events are just the tip of the iceberg. The county has staked out a prominent place at the St. Paul Pride Festival & Parade slated for June 15, a day-long extravaganza rooted in equality and open to the public, with Clinic 555 providing health screenings.
Not to be missed, the Ramsey County Board of Commissioners is making the most of the symbolism. They unveiled a Pride proclamation on June 4 – an initiative available for reading or watching via their website, which lays out the county's commitment to LGBTQ+ rights. The spotlight docked briefly on June 27, highlighting a Teen Pride Picnic specially orchestrated for tweens and teens entering grades 6-12, promising a blend of food and fun at Snail Lake Regional Park.
The month's pinnacle promises to unfold at the Twin Cities Pride festival from June 29-30. Branded as the biggest Pride festival, Loring Park in Minneapolis is destined to burst into a kaleidoscope of LGBTQIA+ talent, artistry, and advocacy. Joining the colorful fray, Ramsey County Social Services marks its eighth anniversary of celebrating inclusivity, welcoming visitors to its informational booth amid the festivities. The county's LGBTQIA2S+ Employee Resource Group, fervent in their support, vows to be out in full force, connecting with both members and allies at the event.
