San José Police Department officers arrested Alejandro Lopez Nunez, a therapist and school aide, for allegedly sexually assaulting a female minor during a therapy session in her home, the department reported yesterday. Nunez, 48, a resident of Santa Clara, worked both as a behavioral therapist for Trumpet Behavioral Health and as an instructional aide at Forest Hill Elementary School when the incidents occurred.
Responding to a call on June 8, the SJPD determined the minor was assaulted the day before. A subsequent investigation by the department’s Internet Crimes Against Children/Child Exploitation Detail Task Force uncovered that the assaults began in March of this year, as detailed by the San José Police Department. Suspect Lopez Nunez’s role as a person of trust has led the SJPD to believe that there might be other victims.
On June 9, Nunez was located in Santa Clara and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for sexual assault of a minor. Following the arrest, authorities are reaching out to the public for additional information. The SJPD urges anyone with relevant details to contact Detective Minten. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the P3TIPS mobile app or the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers' website, where providing information that leads to an arrest can result in a cash reward.
As the investigation continues, the implications of these allegations extend deep into the community fabric, touching on concerns of safety and trust within educational and therapeutic institutions. If you have information about this case or believe there may be additional victims, Detective Minten of the SJPD's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force can be contacted at [email protected] or 408-277-4102 for further assistance.
