Authorities in Catawba County are intensifying their search for a suspect recorded on surveillance footage committing robbery at a local convenience store, as reported by WBTV. Early Monday morning, the unidentified individual reportedly shattered the front glass doors of the Propst Citgo station situated on Section House Road using a rock and proceeded to steal a variety of items before fleeing towards Conover.
The suspect, described as wearing a black cut-off hoodie, a white short-sleeve t-shirt, white gloves and cargo shorts, remains at large; he is also notable for sporting a black mask and white sneakers, and this description is also shared by a Charlotte Observer article detailing the incident where the perpetrator was seen hopping over the counter, and in the scramble, he made away with an undisclosed stock of merchandise from the store.
As per additional details provided by WSOCTV, cashier Jessica Laws showed the rock believed to be used in the break-in, the thief's efficiency was notable in that he was in and out of the Propst Superette store within a matter of 30 seconds, the incident left employees shaken and highlights growing concerns over night-time security for businesses in the area.
