Senator Ann Rest is rolling up her sleeves and setting the table for conversations over pizza with the people she represents. According to an announcement made on her official website, Senator Rest, of Senate District 43, is inviting her constituents to join her for a series of Saturday Listening Sessions at Frankie's Pizza in New Hope. The sessions are scheduled for June 15, July 27, and August 24, each beginning at 11:00 A.M. and wrapping up an hour later. It's an invitation to chew over both the crust of local concerns and the meat of the legislative matters recently put to rest with the adjournment of the 2024 session on May 20.
The Senator's announcement is clear: no issue is too small, no concern too trivial, as she represents a diverse district that includes Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope, Robbinsdale, and part of Plymouth. As Senate President Pro Tem and head of the Senate Taxes Committee, Rest carries clout in the Capitol, and the insight from these sessions could very well inform her legislative agenda.
Everyone is welcome at these sessions, an open forum designed to offer direct access to a prominent state leader. Constituents are encouraged to suggest topics of conversation, ensuring that the agenda is as encompassing as it is actionable. Through this approach, Rest is leveraging the power of face-to-face encounters to cut through the often impersonal nature of politics.
For those interested in attending, all sessions are to be held at Frankie’s Pizza, located at 3556 Winnetka Ave. N., in New Hope. For those unable to make the pizza meetups, Senator Rest's office remains open for communication through other channels as she and her staff work to serve the interests of Senate District 43.
