Southeast D.C. Community Shaken by Fatal Shooting, MPD Investigates Death of Gary Roberson

The streets of Southeast D.C. were marred by violence over the weekend following a deadly incident that claimed the life of a local man, authorities said. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, 38-year-old Gary Roberson was found deceased with multiple gunshot wounds on Saturday night. MPD officials reported officers arrived on the scene in the 700 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast after receiving reports of a shooting around 8:33 p.m.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered Roberson, who was later pronounced dead at the scene, unconscious and not breathing. While the detectives of MPD are thoroughly investigating the fatal shooting, the circumstances leading up to the tragic event remain unclear. Pronounced dead on the scene, the officials have yet to release additional information about potential suspects or motives behind the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing, with MPD's detectives actively seeking leads and urging the public to come forward with any information related to the incident. A call has been put out by the department for witnesses or anyone with information regarding Roberson's death to come forward.
