A man has been taken into custody by the Metropolitan Police Department in relation to an incident involving a firearm in Southeast D.C. In a situation that escalated into an armed confrontation, 22-year-old Dayquan Henderson is facing charges for assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the altercation occurred on Saturday, May 11, 2024, when an argument broke out between the suspect, who was inside a residence on the 300 block of Anacostia Road, Southeast, and other individuals outside. Wielding a gun during the heated dispute, Henderson reportedly discharged the weapon in the direction of the victims, who managed to escape unharmed.
The authorities reported that on the following Thursday, June 6, after obtaining a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force took Henderson into custody without incident. The connection between Henderson and the victims was established during the investigation, indicating they were known to each other prior to the event.
Henderson, hailing from the Southeast area himself, now faces serious legal consequences. "He was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun)," confirmed a situation detailed by the Metropolitan Police Department.
