Drivers in St. Louis Park, brace yourselves for a summer slowdown. The City has confirmed that Eureka Construction will get the wheels turning on improvements to Cedar Lake Road starting June 10. The plan includes fresh pavement, a spruced-up street, but also the headache of road closures and detours until potentially the end of July.
Get ready to reroute, because Flag Avenue north of Cedar Lake Road is shutting down and won't budge until CenterPoint Energy says so—hopefully by June 14. Cedar Lake Road is also getting a time-out between Jordan Avenue and Westwood Lutheran Church, starting on the 10th, to clear the stage for a major makeover. "Please use the posted detour," said Mark Lockhart, Project coordinator for the City of St. Louis Park in a published statement.
The week leading up to the construction will see CenterPoint Energy hustling to replace gas mains. Just when you thought you were clear, companies like Arvig and Lumen will also be yanking their services around to prep for the makeover. The disruption won't end there—ounces of concrete and chunks of pavement are set to disappear come the week of June 10, with the crews digging in to lay the groundwork for that brand-new road look.
For the locals dreading the temporary water shutoffs, fear not: Eureka Construction will warn you at least 48 hours in advance with a charming flyer. So, if you get one, start filling up those pots and bathtubs. "Notices of disruption of service will be delivered as a flyer at least 48 hours in advance," Lockhart added, according to the project's newsletter.
The City is padding the message with an apology for the dust-up and the inconvenience bound to fray some nerves. But hey, it's all for a street that's smoother than your morning coffee. Keep up with the updates, the detours, and that all-important newsletter by hitting up their project website for peaks of the future Cedar Lake Road glory.
