A man was apprehended in downtown Seattle by the police on Friday afternoon, suspected of dealing narcotics and unlawfully possessing firearms. According to the Seattle Police Department Blotter, the arrest took place on June 21 at approximately 2:44 p.m. near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Pike Street.
During the operation involving bicycle officers, called additionally for support, a 26-year-old male was taken into custody, as per the Seattle Police Department. Officers in the area observed the suspect, who's believed to be involved in a narcotics operation. Seattle Police recovered two semi-automatic handguns, alongside an unspecified number of ammunition and magazines.
The evidence seized from the suspect further included narcotics identified to be fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid that has been at the center of America's continuing drug epidemic. The man, whose identity has not been released, was booked into King County Jail on multiple charges. These charges include two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and a Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act (VUCSA) related to Narcotics Sale and Delivery, as reported by the Seattle Police Department.
Detective work remains, with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit at the helm, tasked to dive deeper into the case. After finding narcotics, they will possibly apply additional charges as their investigation unfolds.
