Herold's passenger, 24-year-old Genelle Marquette of Maple Lake, suffered injuries in the incident she was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital by Life Link III, her condition remains unknown at this time, and the crash is still under investigation, but the involvement of alcohol is suspected by authorities. The crash drew a considerable response, including assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, Pierz Police Department, and Pierz Fire Department, among others.

The incident, which took place somewhat late in the day around 5:37 pm, unveils another grim reminder of the potential dangers associated with ATV use, especially when alcohol may be involved.
