An altercation over rent payments at a northwest San Antonio apartment complex led to the stabbing of two leasing office employees. The incident, which occurred close to the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), prompted an extensive search for the 28-year-old suspect who is currently on the run, as reported by KENS 5.
During the exchange, the disgruntled resident of the Broadstone Ranch apartments, wielding a knife, slashed at the victims before fleeing the scene causing an intense response from local law enforcement who arrived and set up a perimeter outside the suspect's apartment believing he may have been inside but they eventually had to leave after determining the suspect had managed to elude them; both women injured in the stabbing were rushed to a local hospital and are expected to make a full recovery. The victims were identified, though not by name, as being in their 60s and late-20s.
A resident of the complex, Alberto Fuentes, described to KENS 5 the unsettling nature of the event within what is usually considered a secure community and expressed his relief that the victims are expected to survive, "I was actually driving back from the baseball field, three cops came speeding behind me, I did the sign of the cross, I said Lord please help them be OK," he said.
Fuentes also added his hopes for a swift resolution "Just the fact there was a problem like that where I live is concerning but thank the Lord they’re OK and may God be with them genuinely," he stated, his concern for his neighbors evident, as the community continues to process the violent disruption that has shattered the usual calm of their environment; meanwhile, the San Antonio Police Department continues its hunt for the assailant, urging anyone with information to come forward to help ensure the individual is apprehended promptly.
