Yesterday morning, a collision involving a suspected drunk driver and a Phoenix Police cruiser sent two officers to the hospital. The incident occurred at the intersection of 75th Avenue and Indian School Road around 2:20 a.m., as reported by FOX 10 Phoenix.
According to the official reports, the officers were in a patrolling Chevrolet Tahoe when their vehicle was struck by Paula Carbajal, 60, making a right-hand, turn. While the officers sustained no serious injuries and were hospitalized as a precaution, Ms. Carbajal was arrested under suspicion of DUI. Following the preliminary investigation, 12 News reports that Carbajal has since been issued a citation and released.
"The officers went to the hospital as a precaution," FOX 10 Phoenix conveyed, adding reassurance that the officers would recover. Neither of the officers nor Ms. Carbajal sustained any injuries that posed immediate concern.
