Two arrests have been made in the case of a homicide that transpired in a south Charlotte apartment complex. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Dockery, was pronounced dead on Thursday after suffering from what police referred to as "unknown trauma." The incident drew investigators to the Farmhurst Drive vicinity, an area that neighbors Interstate 77, as reported by WSOCTV.
Following the discovery, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department apprehended Tadarian Neal and Asia Tapp, both 40, implicating them in the murder and robbery that ended Dockery's life; details from WCCB Charlotte suggest both suspects face charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, and the arrest occurred on Friday, June 14 which was the day after the gruesome discovery was made by a maintenance worker who, during a wellness check, found Dockery's body despite him not residing in that apartment.
In the wake of the tragedy, Dockery's body was encountered, presenting with "major injuries" yet with no explicit cause of death relayed to the public as mentioned in a statement obtained by Queen City News. Neal and Tapp were detained by CMPD's Violent Criminal Apprehension Team and charged accordingly by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation into the homicide is actively pursued, as police sources continue piecing together the narrative surround Dockery's death, the community remains shaken and law enforcement calls for anyone with further information to reach out to the authorities. CMPD invites individuals to share any details by contacting a homicide detective at 704-432-TIPS or engaging Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
