
A Warren man has been slated for a June 24 arraignment in the Macomb County Circuit Court over charges of fatally shooting his wife, authorities say.
Antonio Askew, 41, is accused of killing Eboni Askew, 34, in their home on February 16, according to ClickOnDetroit, the incident marks the city of Warren's first murder case of the year, Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer emphasized the dire need to end domestic violence within the community, stating earlier in the day the victim contacted the police when the suspect began "breaking plates and throwing things" in a domestic outburst.
Askew was arraigned in February with a $500,000 bond and is charged with second-degree murder, which may result in life imprisonment and an additional firearm felony holding a two-year mandatory penalty, WWJ Newsradio reports.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido described the murder as "tragic and senseless," pledging to tirelessly work towards eradicating the "epidemic of violence," according to a statement highlighted by Hoodline, three children were present in the home at the time of the incident, this has further cast a grave shadow over the events, intensifying the scrutiny of domestic dynamics.
The case against Askew is progressing, with previous court appearances imposing conditions of a bond including a GPS tether, an unprecedented step, reflecting the gravity of the charges leveled against him, Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said, as per Hoodline that the house had a history of domestic violence calls.
