Travelers in Wright County are facing detours as County Highway 35 (20th Street NE) is currently shut down between Calder Ave NE and Dague Ave NE due to damage from recent heavy rainfall. Local authorities have set up a detour utilizing Calder Ave NE, County Highway 34, and County Highway 117 (Edmonson Ave NE), aiming to keep the disruption to traffic flow to a minimum. Local access, however, will be maintained.
The closure comes during a pavement preservation project that was abruptly interrupted by the weather conditions, compelling the road to remain closed until conditions sufficiently improve to allow paving to resume. Wright County has clearly marked the detour, to not wholly disrupt the flow through traffic, with a map also provided for driver convenience.
In a statement obtained by Wright County's official website, officials assured the public that the Buffalo High School can still be accessed from the east, thanks to the open intersection at County Highway 35 and Dague/Bison Blvd. This is a small respite for residents who rely on the thoroughfare for daily commutes and essential travel.
Wright County's Assistant Engineer, Sara Buermann, has been made available for those seeking more comprehensive details or updates on the project's progression. According to the county's official announcement, the project is anticipated to wrap up within a week, weather permitting, of course. Buermann's contact information has been provided for any stakeholder wishing to inquire further or express concerns regarding the temporary closure.
