
An early morning disturbance at an Ahwatukee apartment complex turned tragic when bullets were fired, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old and injuries to another. Phoenix Police were called to the scene at the Serafina Apartments near Interstate 10 and Elliot Road around 2:15 a.m., where they discovered two gunshot victims in the swimming pool area, according to a report by AZ Family.
The deceased has been identified as Kashmir Vaughn. While the second victim currently receives treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, police are still piecing together the events that led to the shooting. "Initial information was learned that two groups of people were in a verbal argument inside the fenced area of the apartment swimming pool area where the shooting took place," Phoenix Police detailed in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. No arrests have been made at this time, and the search for the suspects continues, with the possibility of multiple shooters being involved.
In the aftermath of the violence, Phoenix Police are seeking assistance from the public for any leads.
